What Really Happened to Stonehenge in Salisbury Plain, UK

Archaeological evidence indicates that Stonehenge could possibly have served as a burial ground from its earliest beginnings. However, no one knows for sure.

Until iPhones and games were created…. Mysteries solved.

MuscleNerd: redsn0w 0.9.9b6 Fixes Location Services Issue for 3GS Baseband 6.15

Is this going to be the best news for those who are on baseband 6.15.00?

MuscleNerd et al had just released resn0w 0.9.6b6 for both Mac and Windows. Here’s the full change logs on their website:

“We’ve released version 0.9.9b6 of redsn0w, with both a functional fix and cosmetic fix for iOS5 jailbreakers.  For iPhone 3GS owners with the 06.15 baseband, this redsn0w eliminates the network crash you saw when using Location Services in iOS5 (in fact, you don’t even need to disable Location Services anymore during the initial setup).   The cosmetic fix is to the visual countdown you see when going into DFU mode.

It’s okay to re-run this redsn0w over an existing device jailbroken at iOS5.  Just choose “Jailbreak” again and de-select Cydia (in other words, all the checkboxes will be unchecked).  If you are lucky enough to have an old-bootrom iPhone3GS, please pre-select the IPSW first (redsn0w can’t yet auto-detect the FW version of your old-bootrom 3GS if it’s already been jailbroken).”

One of his followers responded:

“@MuscleNerd by location services do you mean that the gps issue for 3GS users on 6.15 is fixed?”

And he replied:

“the 06.15 BB has “assisted GPS” (aGPS), so it’ll use things like tower triangulation in apps like Google Maps, (and even if aGPS isn’t robust in your area, it’s worth applying this fix so that you can keep Location Services on)”

This doesn’t sound like the GPS is fixed but somehow it improves the functionality of the baseband 6.15.00 on 3G/3GS.

MuscleNerd recommends that you re-apply rehacktivation if you’ve hacktivated with custom iOS created with sn0wbreeze before.

“it gets applied if you’ve hactivated with redsn0w (so worst case: Deactivate with redsn0w, then run redsn0w again to hactivate)”

Have a go and see how much this new redsn0w helps on your Location Services.

How to Unlock iPhone 3GS (Install Ultrasn0w 1.2.4) on iOS 5 if WiFi is Broken

OK, so you managed to install iOS 5 with custom firmware, but irritatingly your WiFi is broken and you’re not able to download ultrasn0w via Cydia. Don’t worry, you can still unlock your iPhone 3GS.

Your device should already be jailbroken by now, because that’s a requirement to unlock your iPhone.

If you haven’t jailbroken your iPhone use this instruction. Do everything until step 17. Done? Then let’s continue below.

1. Download i-FunBox for Windows or DiskAid for Mac.

2. Launch i-FunBox or DiskAid and go to /private/var/root/Media.

3. Inside Media folder create a folder called Cydia.

4. Now inside Cydia folder create an AutoInstall folder. Note: The folder name is case-sensitive so be sure to name it accurately. It should look something like this:

/private/var/root/Media/Cydia/AutoInstall

5. Now copy ultrasnow.deb [ultrasn0w_1.2.4.deb] file and MobileSubstrate [mobilesubstrate_0.9.3901_iphoneos-arm.deb] file into AutoInstall folder.

6. Reboot iPhone (remember it’s currently boot tethered! So start redsn0w > Extras > Just Boot).

This tutorial will also work if you have an iPhone 4 baseband 1.59.00.

Good luck and leave any comments or questions below.

Fix iOS 5 WiFi Synchronization and Remote Application Windows if NOD32 Firewall is Installed

If you have NOD32 installed and having issues using WiFi sync and the remote application Windows, your NOD32 firewall might be blocking it. Here’s a quick fix.

1. Open NOD32.
2. Go to Configuration.
3. Go to Advanced.
4. Select Personal firewall.
5. Change the mode of automatic protection.
6. Now a window will appear to allow the use of applications, click Create Rule and allow each one of the windows that appear.

You should now be able to use WiFi Sync. If there’s any Window that needs remote application, repeat step 6.

If you have other types of personal firewall, try to find similar steps above to get your iOS 5 WiFi Sync working. Essential, firewalls tend to block this new iOS 5 feature.
