The recently released ultrasn0w 1.2 unlock by iPhone Dev Team to unlock iPad’s baseband 6.15.00 implanted into iPhone 3G and 3GS has brought a new issue – battery draining really quickly and sometimes causing many iPhones operating at unusually high temperature.
This issue has been acknowledged by those hardworking folks from the iPhone Dev Team and they are currently working to resolve this. Once the fix is available, it will be released via Cydia. This problem is not really caused by ultrasn0w according to @sherif_hashim, but rather by the hacktivation process via redsn0w.
In the meantime, there are 3 suggested methods to fix this problem:
Method 1: Use the official SIM card. Insert it and connect to iTunes. It should do everything for you automatically.
Method 2: Install SBSettings (search on Cydia or Google for it) and it will turn your 3G off every time you are done using it. Annoying but works for now.
Method 3: Not an actual method but @sbingner – one of the members from iPhone Dev Team is working on an app that should fix this issue once and for all.
Did you experience this issue? Do the methods above work?
