What you need:

There are some issues Musclenerd warns with ultrasn0w:
“ultrasn0w unlockers remember: please stay away until we get a chance to fix the problems 4.3.1 has with older basebands”
” … you’ll be stuck with just one bar of signal strength being shown (despite actual strength), so probably better to wait”

my itunes is saying to me that i am not elegible to do update to 4.3.1

but its a zip folder and couldn't find the file with .ipsw extention ?

it is an IPSW file, your computer is associating this file to the zip program
dude you change the zip to like .zip to .ipsw
I have iPhone 4 with 4.1 bb02.10.04, does it mean i need to upgrade to 4.3 (with new baseband) and then jailbreak & unlock? The phone has so far never been jailbroken or unlocked
you can use redsn0w 0.9.6b6 if you want to jailbreak 4.1, there's no software unlock available for your baseband, but you can use Gevey Turbo SIM (click iPhone4 unlock above)
I have an iPhone 3GS already on 4.3.1 with baseband 5.16.02 and need an unlock – should I go ahead use redsn0w to jailbreak & upgrade to 6.15.00 for an unlock?
read the warning from musclenerd above, but the fix will be out anytime now, you can flash to 6.15, and just update ultrasn0w later

Hi, I'm at 4.2.1 with baseband 6.15 and consequently the no GPS issue. When do you suggest I update with the new redsnow to get my GPS working? Do you know if it fixes the GPS problem?
it won't do any good, essentially it's still the same as the previous version, it's only supporting 4.3.1

I have iPhone 3GS Version 4.3 BB 5.16.01. I read about the GPS issue with 4.3 and 6.15bb so i havent flashed my phone yet to 6.15……Should I just update to 4.3.1 and use redsn0w 0.9.6rc9 and ultrasnow to jailbreak and unlock my phone? Would I still have GPS problem then?
the risk of updating to 6.15.00 is always there, and there's 50-50 chance that your GPS will be affected
