Apple has already opened four stores in China at Beijing Sanlitun’s The Village, Beijing Xidan’s Joy City, Shanghai’s Pudong and Shanghai’s Hongkong Plaza. It was just reported on Beijing’s Youth Daily that the 5th store will open this summer at Shanghai’s famous Nanjing Road.

This will be part of Apple’s plan to open at least 25 stores in China. Apple’s CFO, Peter Oppenheimer, said the company’s existing China stores had the highest traffic and the highest revenue on average of any Apple store in the world. It is obvious why Apple is investing heavily in China as Chinese consumers becoming more affluent than they were decades ago and they are ready to spend their money on Apple’s stylish products which often seen as status symbol.
iPhone 4 has recently become one of the hottest electronic items in China and many Chinese consumers are willing to pay premium price for iPhone 4 from the gray market as often there is a long wait to purchase it directly from the store.
