The days of unlocking iPhones are now numbered as factory unlocked iPhones will be readily available to US (and other countries) consumers by November 2011.

Contract-free iPhone 4S available in either black or white will be sold at the following prices:
- 16GB – US$649
- 32GB – US$749
- 64GB – US$849
Customers who buy an unlocked iPhone 4S will be able to use the handset internationally on any GSM network. They must obtain a micro-SIM card from a local GSM carrier.
This option has already been made available at Apple UK, where customers can opt to pay £499, £599 and £699 for the 16GB, 32GB and 64GB iPhone 4S versions respectively.
Does all these mean that Apple will be manufacturing 2 versions of the 4S – world phone which is compatible with GSM/CDMA and GSM only? Or, will every iPhone 4S will be a world phone? Typically CDMA phone requires the carrier to activate the phone on their network and no SIM card is used, so technically there’s no “unlocking” involved.
Be warned though, Apple said that a credit check may be required for customers who purchase the unlocked GSM iPhone 4S and customers must be at least 18 years of age to buy.
Hackers may no longer need to work on new version of ultrasn0w. Ultrasn0w version 1.2.3 could be the final ultrasn0w as we know it.
