To those who are new to iPhones, Geohot is the first person in the world to hack and unlock the iPhone first generation when it was released a few years ago. He is also the guy who developed other jailbreaking tools such as blackra1n and limera1n. Recently, he hacked the Sony PS3 and that got into the nerves of Sony’s management. They were so furious and decided to sue him.
His ability to hack into the PS3 revealed security holes with the device and Geohot was hoping that Sony would fix them, instead of suing him.
Geohot started a blog to keep a diary of the legal battle process and plan to hire several more lawyers to win the case. As this is a battle between a single person and a billion dollar corporation, he needs support from those who appreciate his work, that means in a form of donation. He did remind everyone to be careful of scam sites, as many impersonators would take advantage of this situation to cheat people. - I have never pirated a PS3 game in my life, nor helped or encouraged people to do so
- I have never played PlayStation online, never mind cheated, nor helped or encouraged people to do so
- I have never hacked anything that I did not own or without consent of the owner
