MMS is not activated automatically once you have jailbroken or unlock your iPhone. See instructions below on how to activate MMS on your iPhone when using a Chinese SIM card.
China Mobile GSM Users
1. Go to Settings –> Phone –> My Number and enter your number (format: 013XXXXXXXXX)
2. Go to Settings –> General –> Network –> Cellular Data Network and enter the following settings under “MMS”:
APM: cmwap
MMSC: mmsc.monternet.com
MMS Proxy: 10.0.0.172
3. Restart your phone
China Unicom GSM Users
1. Go to Settings –> Phone –> My Number and enter your number.
2. Restart your iPhone.
China Unicom 3G Users
1. Go to Settings –> Phone –> My Number and enter your number.
2. Go to Settings –> General –> Network –> Cellular Data Network and enter the following settings under “Cellular Data”:
APM: 3gnet
and the following under “MMS”:
APM: uniwap
MMSC: http://mmsc.myuni.com.cn
MMS Proxy: 10.0.0.172
3. Restart your phone.

Hi! I’m using China Unicom 3G and I just tried to follow your directions to install MMS. But unfortunately there are no further settings possible under “Cellular Data”! All I can do is switch it on or off! Am I looking at the wrong spot?

1. We must change with CommCenter Patch
Where to download the repository?
a) cydia.iphonemod.com.br (Right now the Repo is down)
OR
b) imatty.altervista.org / repo (I used this, the file is valid only for the 4.0.1)
(Install CommCentreNoSing 4.0.1 (ONLY FOR iOS 4.0.1))
2. Then RESTART
3. Now the Final part:
Either SSH to your Device or Just use iFile from the Device:
Go to::: System/Libraray/Carrier Bundles/ (YOUR CARRIER).bundle/carrier.plist
4. Edit the file carrier.plist with any plist editor (If you SSH from PC/mac) or directly using iFile through Device
After the Following Line
Add:
APNEditabilityTypemask
5
AllowEDGEEditing
After that you will find CarrierName , which will be there already
5. Restart AGAIN
6. Then Go to Settings >> General >> Network AND YOU WILL FIND Cellular Data Network..VOILA….
7. Enjoy !!!!
