We worked on a customer’s factory-unlocked iPhone 3Gs a few weeks ago as he was able unable to get it fixed at the Apple Store in Beijing. Imagine that!
Anyway, he mentioned that it keeps throwing a 1014 error during full restore. He was fortunate to have a factory-unlocked iPhone 3Gs so he can do a full restore on iTunes with the latest firmware without having to worry of getting it locked.
Error 1013/1014/1015 on iTunes is a common error during the restore process and is related to the modem firmware or baseband.

The result of this error will take you to a recovery mode loop which shows the “Connect to iTunes” screen. A simple way to fix this is to kick the iPhone out of recovery mode. Here’s how:
1. Download TinyUmbrella from here.
2. Launch the program.
3. Connect your iPhone.
4. Click on”Kick Device out of Recovery” on older version of TinyUmbrella or “Exit Recovery.”

You will notice your iPhone will show a brief progress bar and the restore will be completed. Your iPhone should work by now!
Thanks! Saved my phone!

Hello. I have an IPhone 3G which I recently updated to 4.2, Unlocked and Jailbroken w RedSnow. I downloaded IBlacklist from the sinfulrepo Cydia source and since that moment the phone is frozen, It turns on and Off and I cannot get ir out of recovery mode. It also gives me error message 1015 when I try to Restore. I'm trying for about 2 days with tiny umbrella and many other programs with NO LUCK. Any help would be greatly apresciated.
do you have baseband 6.15? you need a custom firmware for this…
