MuscleNerd: iPhone 4 Unlock BB 2.10.04, 3.10.01 and 4.10.01 Delayed, iOS 4.3 Untethered Jailbreak Coming

Hello there! If you are new here, you might want to subscribe to the RSS feed for updates on this topic!

UPDATE: No unlock from the iPhone Dev Team yet, but you can now use Turbo SIM to unlock your iPhone.

A few weeks ago MuscleNerd mentioned that they won’t release the unlock until iOS 4.3 is made public. Apple has finally released iOS 4.3 today for iPhone 4, 3GS, iPad 1 and 2, Apple TV, iPod Touch G3 and G4. However, MuscleNerd twitted today:

Sorry, there’s no news on the i4 unlock for those who lost 01.59 (or never had it). It’s taking longer than we wanted :(

He also warned:

Ultrasn0w unlockers should know the drill! Don’t let iTunes trick you into installing today’s 4.3 iOS. Just say no!

If you are on baseband 1.59.00 – do not update to iOS 4.3! Avoid updating it at all costs! iPhone 3GS users should also avoid the latest iOS update. Otherwise, you will update your baseband to 5.16.00 which cannot be unlocked as well.

Meanwhile, they are also working on updating GreenPois0n to give untethered jailbreak on iOS 4.3.

The 4.3 untether JB could come from many sources.. @i0n1c, the pwn2own contestants, @comex are 3 possible (maybe more?)

This seems to be a bad news for many people and the ‘Sunday is Fun Day‘ we predicted earlier may not happen in the near future.

To sum it up, post iOS 4.0 baseband unlock status as of March 10, 2011:

iPhone 4:

  • 1.59.00 (unlocked)
  • 2.10.04
  • 3.10.01
  • 4.10.01

iPhone 3G/3GS:

  • 5.13.04 (unlocked)
  • 5.14.02
  • 5.15.04
  • 5.16.00 (3GS only)

iPad

  • 6.15.00 (unlocked – compatible with 3G/3GS)
  • 7.11.00

The final score – Apple 7, iPhone Dev Team 3. :(

  1. I'm confused. They will withhold the ultrasn0w update that is apparently ready for the other modem basebands because of one that they haven't been able to crack? After how many months of waiting, and endless promises? I was one of those guys that was defending the dev team. Now I am asking myself why?

  2. Lets wake up… There is no unlock for these basebands because they dont have it. Its always the same story, “next iOS we will release it”, and when the time comes, “its delayed, sorry”… Do
