Unlockers: Ultrasn0w 1.2.4 and Gevey Turbo SIM Blocked in iOS 5.0.1?

Hello there! If you are new here, you might want to subscribe to the RSS feed for updates on this topic!

iPhone unlockers who plan to update to iOS 5.0.1 should read this first.

The iOS 5.0.1 that was just released two days ago seems to block Gevey Turbo SIM from functioning altogether despite having baseband 4.10.01, 3.10.01 or 2.10.04.

Ultrasn0w 1.2.4 is not working as well, so even if you have an unlockable baseband, you will be stuck on No Service, Searching or Invalid SIM.

If you plan to update to iOS 5.0.1, I would suggest that you wait. If you don’t need an unlock, you may still want to read this first.

  1. My Gevey Ultra is not working with iPhone 4 (IOS 5.0.1). I have iOS 5.0.1 hacktivated, jailbroken version from this website.
    Gevey fails every time.

    • Hi there. I had the same problem. Upgraded to iOS 5.0.1 and preserved BB 04.10.01 but my Gevey would not work. I tried a new one but without any success. Somehow I ended up poping a Rebel SimCard thinking it was a Gevey and boom it worked.
Almost a month now, and after many reboots it works perfectly every time with ease. It follows same installation process as Givey only difference is on iOS 5 you do not get that one signal bar before dialing 112. It will just say No Signal and you just go ahead and dial 112 anyway. Works like a charm every time thanks to the Rebel Sim developers.

  2. Download iOS 5.01 filename iPhone3,1_5.0.1_9A405_Restore.ipsw save iOS file, for windows download sn0wbreeze, create a custom Ipsw file by selecting baseband preservation in sn0wbreeze. Put your phone in DFU mode, connect your phone to iTunes, PRESS SHIFT + Restore & select file saved on your desktop by sn0wbreeze, filename will be sn0wbreeze_iphone 4-5.0.1.ipsw. This will preserve your baseband & you can use Gevey Sim

      • FerTouchStyle… I also have iPhone 4 with BB 4.10.01 and able to unlock with Gevey Ultra in iOS 5.0.1. After upgrading to iOS 5.0.1 with a Sn0wbreeze preserved baseband custom firmware (no tethered jailbreak). Here are the step that I unlock with Gevey Ultra:
Note: The important thing is that Cellular Data and Data Roaming MUST be ON. Sometimes, after a power + home reboot or power + red slider reboot, Data Roaming is turned off by default. It must be turned on before attempting the step below.

        1. Power + home reboot
        2. Wait for Gevey welcome screen (if it doesn't pop up, go to Setting->Phone->SIM Application then click on English)
        3. Click Accept on the Gevey welcome message
        4. Wait for No Service then count 4 seconds
        5. Dial 112 then end call after two seconds
        6. Turn ON airplane mode
        7. Wait for "No SIM Installed" message then click on OK (around 30-90 seconds)
        8. Turn OFF airplane mode
        9. Two messages will popup, click OK on the last one
        10. Cellular service will come on after a couple of minutes

  3. i have upgrade my iphone 3gs to 5.01 with BB 6.15.00 but i m getting no service….i have also installed ultrasnow 1.2.4….still no service..ne suggestion plz help me..

  4. Thanks Ryan I’m going to try this when I get home. The only difference is my baseband is 3.10.1. Tried this a few days ago and I got stuck on the invalid sim!
