Hello there! If you are new here, you might want to subscribe to the RSS feed for updates on this topic!

We have been bombarded with too much information lately. iPhone users who are stuck with baseband 5.14.02 are very frustrated as the release of iOS 4.2 has been postponed twice. It has been announced that the unlock will be available within 48 hours after iOS4.2 is public.

Now, let us give you the summary of where all things are related to jailbreaking, unlocking, iOS 4.2, Cydia and most importantly, the ultrasn0w 1.0-2.

As of Sunday, November 22, 2010:

Jailbreaking – Many iPhones were liberated last month after the release of Limera1n and Greenpois0n. These are the most important tools available to jailbreak iOS 4.0 and above.

Greenpois0n or Limera1n for you?

iOS 4.2 – The release of this latest iOS is postponed to an unannounced date. Rumors say that it would be available either on November 16th or 24th, a day before Thanksgiving Monday, November 22, 2010. A new baseband version 5.15.04 will be included in this update – so be careful not to accept it if you rely on an unlock!

ultrasn0w 1.0-2 – This is the latest software by the Chronic Dev Team to unlock baseband 5.14.02 on iPhone 3G and 3GS. As of today, there is no software available to unlock this baseband. The unlock for iPhone 4 with baseband 2.10.04 is expected to be delayed. It will be released anytime between November 22 and November 24, 2010.

Cydia – It has been confirmed that the latest Cydia will work on iOS 4.2.

iTunes – Version 10.1 for Mac and Windows is now available.

Fuzzyband 4.1 – You can install this from Cydia and downgrade your baseband IF you have an iPhone 3G ONLY with bootloader version5.08. Otherwise, you are out of luck!

Hardware Unlock of 5.14.02 – This is already possible and we provide this as a paid service. Using a delicate hardware procedure, we replace the baseband chip that contains baseband/modem firmware 5.13.04. Once you boot up your iPhone, you will see that you will have an older baseband which has been unlocked – You can use your iPhone immediately. We are still working for iPhone 4 on baseband 2.10.04.

Others – Sn0wbreeze 2.1 was just released to custom ‘cook’ firmware and will help preserving baseband. The unlock for iPhone 4 basebands 2.10.04 and 3.10.01 (from iOS 4.2 GM) may be delayed.

We hope this information will give you a clearer picture of where things are. Subscribe to our RSS feed for all the latest information on iPhone!
