Hello there! If you are new here, you might want to subscribe to the RSS feed for updates on this topic!

If you’ve been using iPhones since the early days, Geohot won’t be a stranger to you. He’s now hacked or rooted Samsung Galaxy S5 from AT&T and Verizon with his tool called ‘Towelroot’.

Since Samsung Galaxy devices run on Android, the term used by hackers when they are hacked or jailbroken is ‘root’. Geohot, who is known to be the first person ever who hacked the original iPhone and also created many jailbreak tools, returned again today with a tool to root Samsung Galaxy S5 with ‘towelroot’.

Geohot mentioned that towelroot can be used on both the AT&T and Verizon Samsung Galaxy S5 models, but technically it should also work on devices running a kernel built before June 3. That means you have a Samsung Galaxy S4 Active, Galaxy Note 3 and Nexus 5, you should be able to root these devices as well using towelroot.
